Shh… don't tell anyone I'm poor. They all think I'm living frugal and green just like everyone these days. This is a blog about a senior citizen living a frugal life, on a fixed income, in a low income food desert, and passing along knowledge from lessons learned. Some she learned from her Grandma Mama many years ago and some learned only a few days ago.
The dentist is in the process of making a new set of dentures. No, there is no extra cost. He had to go back to the beginning. There are several steps starting with a mold of the gums which is then used to make a hard wax mold that simulates the teeth. Adjustments for fit are made to the hard wax. I went for that fitting today and it was a world of difference. I could tell immediately the newer teeth will fit so, so much better. It will no longer feel as if I have too much teeth and not enough mouth.
Next step is in a couple of weeks. The teeth will have been fitted into the wax so I can test how they will feel and look when done. He will make adjustments to anything necessary. Like maybe if they feel too high or low anywhere around the mouth. If perhaps a tooth looks crooked he can straighten it. And stuff like that. If all the steps go as planned I should have a new set of teeth to start the year off right. That will be after their winter break. Both of us are happy with the decision to start all over again.
