Na Na pinches her pennies

Shh… don't tell anyone I'm poor. They all think I'm living frugal and green just like everyone these days. This is a blog about a senior citizen living a frugal life, on a fixed income, in a low income food desert, and passing along knowledge from lessons learned. Some she learned from her Grandma Mama many years ago and some learned only a few days ago.

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone is having or has had a great holiday!

I’m not much for celebrating holidays, especially the Christmas holiday. I did a short youtube video of me opening the gift from my daughter and grandkids so they could see me open it.

My daughter cooked the holiday dinner and brought me a plate. Delicious!

I really needed the blogging break. It has given me time to consider my future as well as take away some of the stress of keeping up with the blog and youtube for awhile.

So hugs and best wishes to everyone. Stay safe.

Be safe and well. The new year….what will it bring? We all need to be resourceful, but we’ve already been doing good with that for a long time now.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you,Anita. I’ve missed your notes, but understand your need for rest. There is a lot of layoffs here. I helped at the senior center with food boxes and gifts. There was a huge response. Be well and stay safe🎄⛄️🎄

This is the first year in a long time I’ve not been serving food at a soup kitchen on the holidays. The news showed how the street homeless were given a dinner box from tables outside. Covid restrictions wouldn’t allow them to eat inside with the shelter residents. Everyone got a gift along with the food. Everyone took it back to their hiding places to eat.

Actually my daughter is taking it back to exchange for the larger version. That one was too small to bake a loaf of bread. With the larger one I won’t need to keep two ovens.

Glad you are still around – hope things are going well with you and your friends and family

Remember if you are not having fun you are not doing it correctly

This is from one of my other neglected sites

    Take care

Below is a link to some of my favorite recipes – it’s from a while back and
whatever I had for an image at the top of the page went away – but the food
    still tastes good

First time in about a decade that I did not make deviled eggs – I do recommend
    them

I’m going to try your cornbread cookies recipe but use maple syrup instead of honey. I intended to try it last year and then completely forgot about it after the pandemic started.

I was just reading your older posts on energy and water saving. Going to put some of those water savings ones in effect tonight. Thank you. Merry Christmas!

I guess I’ve seen too many stories of desperate people needing fresh water in Africa and India and Mexico and other places because wasteful water use bothers me a lot. I see youtube videos of people washing dishes or vegetables under constant running water and I’ll be yelling at the computer to “Turn the dang water off! Don’t you know there are thirsty children in other countries?” as if they could actually hear me. The cost of water and sewer is ridiculous.
